Functional Explanation

System Log is the server-side page that displays the internal application log. It records system-level messages including startup events, communication state changes, configuration actions, error conditions, and diagnostic information. System Log is used by engineers and administrators when diagnosing issues that are not visible as alarms or events.

System Log is accessible to Administrators only.

Log Columns

The following columns are displayed in the System Log viewer. Columns can be sorted and resized.

ColumnDescription
TimestampDate and time when the log entry was recorded.
OriginThe system component or service that generated this log entry.
MessageThe log message text describing the event or condition.

Toolbar Actions

The following actions are available in the System Log toolbar.

ActionDescription
SearchFilter the displayed log entries by a text search applied to the message and origin fields.
SortSort records by any column by clicking the column header.

Notes

The System Log is a circular buffer. Older entries are overwritten as new entries are added. It does not persist indefinitely.

Use the Verbose settings on individual devices to increase the log detail for specific communication drivers when investigating a connection issue.

Review the System Log together with the Alarm Viewer and Event Viewer when diagnosing an operational issue to get the full picture of system behavior at a given time.
