The Converters configuration page defines named, reusable value conversion formulas. A converter is referenced by name from a variable configuration to transform raw values on read and optionally on write.

This centralizes scaling and translation logic so the same formula can be applied consistently across many variables without repeating the expression in each variable.

A converter has a separate read expression and write expression. The read expression converts the raw value received from the device into an engineering value. The write expression converts a user-entered engineering value back to the raw value sent to the device.

Converter Settings

Create a new converter with the Add button in the toolbar. The Add dialog contains the Name, Read, Write, and Description settings in the General section. Enter at least the Name and press Create.

Each Converters row represents one named conversion formula. The row shows Name, Read, Write, and Description directly and these values can be edited in place. Press the Settings icon on a converter row to open the Settings dialog, which contains the same settings. Press Save to apply the changes.

SettingDescriptionExampleUnits / Format
NameUnique name for this converter. Referenced by name from variable settings.RawToPressureText
ReadExpression applied when reading a value from the device. Use value as the raw input variable.value * 0.1Expression
WriteExpression applied when writing a value to the device. Use value as the engineering-side input. Leave empty when no write conversion is needed.value / 0.1Expression
DescriptionFree text description for documentation purposes.Converts raw integer to bar pressureText

Notes

The Read and Write expressions support standard mathematical operators. Use value as the input variable. For example, value * 0.1 + 2 scales and offsets the raw value.

The Write expression is only applied when the variable is configured as Writeable. When no write conversion is needed, leave the Write field empty.

Converter names are referenced by name from the Converter field on Modbus TCP variables and Local Variables. The name must match exactly.
