Functional explanation

TrendObject displays live trends for one or more variables. It is used on operator pages where recent process values must be compared over time.

The object is useful when the user needs to see recent process history directly on the page. It is a display object rather than a simple shape and usually combines multiple variables, scaling, and time range controls. The history of each pen is read from the history source of its variable; see the History Sources article. When the history of a pen cannot be read, the chart shows the reason as its tooltip.

Use TrendObject for immediate operational visibility. Use Trend Analyst when the user needs deeper historical analysis and reusable trend configurations.

Object name

Set the object name shown in the trend decorator context.

Series

Configure the trend series. Each series has its own variable, colors, scale, and display options. Settings with a number suffix (2, 3, 4) apply to the corresponding series.

Four series are drawn on the chart. The designer also stores Variable 5 to Variable 8, which are reserved for a future extension and stay off the chart. Place a second Trend on the page to show more than four series.

SettingDescriptionExampleUnits
Variable 1-4Variable or expression for the series. Variable 5 to Variable 8 are stored by the designer and stay off the chart. When the series is one variable with a Format, the tooltip shows the value with that Format.PLC1.TemperatureExpression
DescriptionOptional legend text for the series, shown in the legend and the tooltip instead of the variable name. When empty, the variable name is shown. The text is collected by the Project Language Texts export on the Parameters page and shown in the user's language at runtime.Inlet temperatureText
