The Quick Menu (Ctrl+Q) of the Envision editor has a Pages panel and a Symbols panel in its bottom navigation bar. Both show their entries as a folder tree built from the Library Path of each page or symbol: an entry with Library Path Development/Pumps sits in the Pumps folder inside the Development folder, and an entry without a Library Path sits directly under Home.

A folder opens and closes with its chevron or a click on its name, and shows the number of entries below it. The Home row at the top has Expand All and Collapse All buttons. Which folders are open is remembered by the browser, so the tree looks the same after a rename, a move, or a reload.

Type part of a name in the Search field above the panel and press Enter or click Search: only the matching entries stay, and every folder that holds a match is opened. Clear the field and search again to return to the remembered folders.

Moving entries between folders

Drag a page or a symbol onto a folder row to move it into that folder, or onto the Home row to move it to the top level. Holding a dragged entry over a closed folder opens the folder, so it can be dropped into a folder deeper down. The Path button of an entry sets the Library Path directly: enter the parent path, for example Engineering/Pumps, or leave it empty for Home. A folder that no longer holds an entry disappears from the tree.

Preview

Rest the mouse pointer on a page or symbol name in the Pages or Symbols panel to show a preview of that entry next to the Quick Menu. Moving the pointer to another name shows that entry, and moving it off the list closes the preview. Clicking or dragging the name, or pressing Escape, also closes the preview.

The preview draws the entry as it was last saved, scaled to fit, for viewing only. The header shows the name and the size in pixels, and the line below the drawing shows the scale. Colors from the Color Library are shown in the current theme. A Label or an Input shows its Label text, or ### when its value comes from a Variable / Expression. Values, animations and conditions take effect at runtime. Objects that draw their content at runtime, such as a Trend, a Data Grid or a Navigator, appear as a framed placeholder with the object name. An Image shows its picture when the Image Source holds an embedded image, and appears as a placeholder when it refers to a file.

In the Symbols panel, the master is drawn on the background of the page that is open in the editor, and every replacer shows its Default value. A master that takes the full page width is drawn 1920 pixels wide. In the Pages panel, the page is drawn on its own background, and a page with Fit Mode Fluid is laid out at 1920 x 1080 pixels.

A page is loaded from the server when the pointer rests on its name. While the pointer moves along the list, a page loads only once the pointer stops on it. The last 10 previewed pages are kept, and are loaded again after a save or a reload of the editor. A page with more than about 2 MB of content shows the message Too large to preview.

Pages panel

The page that is open in the editor is highlighted, and its folder is opened when the editor loads. Click a page name to open that page. The Rename button edits the name in place; Save or Enter applies it, No or Escape cancels.

The checkbox in front of a page selects it for Duplicate, Delete and Export in the toolbar above the tree. The checkbox in front of a folder selects every page below that folder, and the checkbox in front of the Home row selects every page of the project, also the pages inside closed folders. New creates a page and Import loads a page file.

Duplicate copies a page under a new name: the checked page, or the open page when no page is checked. With more than one page checked, a message asks to check a single page. The Duplicate Page dialog shows the Source Page and proposes the page name followed by _Copy, or _Copy2, _Copy3 and so on when that name is taken. A page name consists of letters, digits and underscores. Select Duplicate to create the copy: the open page is saved first, then the copy opens. The copy receives the page content and every page setting of the Page Decorator, including UserGroups, Page Script, Library Path, RefreshTime, Base Scale, Fit Mode, Max Width, Disable Zoom, Disable Pan, Allow Screen Notes, Allow Quick Trend and the page replacers, as well as the Assets of the page. The Screen Notes of the original page stay with the original page. With the same Library Path, the copy appears in the same folder as the original.

Group symbol master names are unique in the project. A master on the copied page therefore receives a new name: the original name followed by an underscore and six characters, for example SYM_Pump becomes SYM_Pump_3f9c2b. The renamed masters are listed in a message when the copy opens, and each one appears in the Symbols panel as a separate master. Instances on the copy keep their master.

An exported page file records the schema version of the project it came from. When such a file is imported into a newer version, the page content is brought up to the current shape first, so objects that were replaced or renamed in a later version arrive in their current form. A file exported by a newer version than the running application is refused, and a file written before the version was recorded is imported as it stands.

Symbols panel

Click a symbol master name to open the Edit Instance dialog and place an instance on the page. The find button of a symbol jumps to the master on its page. A blue frame labelled Master: followed by the symbol name marks the master for 10 seconds. The page opens in runtime mode, and the frame is never saved with the page.
