The Object Viewer is used to help better understand and edit groups.

  • Select a group and press CTRL+O.
  • Select a group, hold CTRL, and right-click.
  • Click the Object Viewer icon in the Group Decorator.
  • Click the Object Viewer button in the Edit Mode toolbar to open the tree of the whole page. The selected objects are highlighted in the tree and the groups above them are expanded.

It shows the composition of the objects inside the selected group, including nested groups and their contained objects. Every row shows the icon of the object type, the object name with the type beside it, the layer pill and the two eye buttons. The title shows how many objects the tree contains.

What you can do in the Object Viewer

  • Hovering a row draws a frame around the object on the page, with its name and type above it. The frame is a preview only: hovering changes nothing in the selection.
  • Clicking a row adds the object to the selection, clicking it again removes it. A selected row is highlighted and the selection on the page follows.
  • Right-clicking a row opens the decorator of that object.
  • The chevron in front of a group folds or unfolds it. Expand All and Collapse All in the title bar fold every group at once.
  • The Filter box keeps only the rows whose name or type contains the text, with the groups above them opened.
  • The layer pill at the end of a row shows the layer color, the layer name and the z-index. Click it to pick another layer.
  • The crossed eye hides the object while editing, the eye shows an object that a visibility condition hides. Both are editing aids and are cleared when you leave edit mode.
  • Drag a row onto another row to sort the objects: a line shows whether the object lands above or below the row, dropping it on a group row moves it into that group. Every move is one undo step.
