To save a page, press Ctrl-S, or use the toolbar Save Page button. A green 'save' icon will briefly be shown at the top of the page to confirm the action.
Important: The page has now been saved in the database on the server. Any operator refreshing the page will now see the new page. The last developer that saved the page will be the version saved in the database. Try to avoid developing on the same page at the same time with multiple programmers. CTRL+Z and CTRL+Y are supported. Note the progress at the top right.
Page HTML content is written through the Design page workflow. The Config API page endpoints can be used to read the page Data field, but page create and update requests do not accept page HTML. For programmatic graphical page changes, use the Design API.
For page-wide styling in Design, such as the page background color or page border color, update the page context itself. Do not use a full-page Square as a background replacement when the change belongs to the page.
Page History
The Page History window (found in the CTRL+Q menu) shows the saved versions of the open page. A version is stored each time the page is saved from the editor, through the Design API or MCP, or by a UDT push. This page lists the versions of the open page, All pages the versions of every page. The Page History Max Backups parameter sets how many versions are kept, counted over all pages together; the oldest versions are removed first.
The Changes in this save column shows what each save changed compared with the previous version of the same page. No design changes means that the save kept every object, every page setting and the Page Script as they were.
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Datetime | When the version was saved. The newest version of the page is marked Latest. |
| Username | Who saved the version. AI marks a version saved through the Design API or MCP, UDT Push a version written by a UDT push. |
| Page Name | The page the version belongs to. Shown with All pages. |
| Changes in this save | + objects added, − objects removed, ~ objects with changed settings, each followed by the number of objects. Page Settings and Page Script show that those changed. |
| Compare | Compares the version with the previous version of the page. |
| Load | Loads the version into the open page after a confirmation. |
No rows match the filter.
To compare two versions, tick both and select Compare selected. When the open page has unsaved changes, the first row of the list is Current page; Compare with saved page shows what a save would change.
The comparison reads each version as the properties panel shows it: for every object its position, size, Z-Index, group, order and settings, and for the page the Page Decorator settings and the Page Script. A saved page also holds what the running page showed at the moment of saving, for example live values, animated sizes, state colors, blinking and alarm rows. These are listed under Other differences, together with empty settings that received the value the editor uses for an empty setting. The page looks and works the same with or without them.
| Element | Description |
|---|---|
| Compare with | Shown for a version opened from the list. Previous version shows what that save changed. Saved page shows what changed between that version and the page as it is saved now, which is what Load would undo. |
| Objects | The added, removed and changed objects. Select an object to show its settings before and after, and to locate it on the map. An added or removed group is listed once, with the number of objects inside. |
| Map | A plan of the page with the added, removed and changed objects marked in color. A dashed outline marks an object that is not part of the version shown, or the old position of a moved object. Before and After switch between the two versions; Whole page shows the complete page again. |
| Page Settings | The page settings that differ, for example UserGroups or RefreshTime (ms). |
| Page Script | The lines of the Page Script that were added or removed. |
| Other differences | Runtime state stored with the page, and default values filled in. |
| Load | Loads the version into the open page after a confirmation. |
No rows match the filter.
To restore a version, select Load on its row or in the comparison, and confirm. The version replaces the saved content of the open page and the page refreshes. Unsaved changes in the editor are lost. A version of another page shows a warning first and is loaded with Load anyway, because it replaces the open page with the content of that page.
